Pornography YEAHHH WOOHOOO!!!!!
DF ASSESMENT 2 YEAH!!! WOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!
BACK TO MLC YEAH!!!! WOOHOOO!!!!!!
Here goes.....
Obscenity
“…legal concept used to characterize certain (particularly sexual) material as offensive to the public sense of decency.”
- Encyclopedia Britannica
Obscenity in simpler terms means a rough idea of what seemed to be over the limits of sexual exposure that may seem offensive to the public.
Obscenity to me can be more defined as a rough idea; as in a vague line of limit of which is used to categorize a sort of material to be sexually exposing to the local. This limits varied from one location to another in terms of culture, way of life, religion, and even the economical and political standards of the country.
I think that since the world is progressing so widely, culture clashing and materials exposing the line of obscenity is very vague. This is proven that even in an extremely small amount of population area - a small town for example - the standards of obscenity varies.
In the early 14th century of Europe, kissing in public was indecent due to the power of the Catholic Church. But however centuries before even mating and sexual intercourse in public was considered a norm among Romans. In the early 19th and 20th century Malaysian deduced that kissing in public is shameful and blasphemic but in the present age it may not seem so anymore among the younger generations.
In 100 years to come, i predict that there this obsenity vagueness will be much more extreme.
Pornography
“…representation of sexual behavior in books, pictures, statues, motion pictures, and other media that is intended to cause sexual excitement.”
- Encyclopedia Britannica
Pornography, in short media that contains sexual theme thatbrings about sexual excitement.
This term pornography has and will always be a controversial term. Even till today the definition of pornography changes from time to time.
How does one really draw a line between what is pornography and what is not? If sexual exposure refers to pornography, and the limitations of sexual obscenity is the exposure of ...lets say...stomach for example....then does that mean every single hindustani movies are pornographic? If kissing, or sex scenes were pornographic then that will categorized most of hollywood movies as pornographic.
As to date Pornographic can be easily identified among extreme or sadistic or masochist sex scenes. The lower or 'softcore' still stays uncertain as to what category they would be in.
Pornography is banned in most countries but with the power of the internet it may seem that the banning attempts were futile. Debates have often being proposed that Pornography should be made legal, for the side effects of pornography often leads to better morality among the public.
It may seem irrational or illogical but if one would look into statistics; the lowest rape cases in the world turned out to be one of the largest pornographic industry in the world! You guess it right, its Japan.
In my opinion pornography shud be made legal, however a minimum age restriction must be implied and strictified ( if there is such a word ). Make rules more presssing and control the runnings of pornography media efficiently. If we look at it in the long run, we may actually save more lives then futile attempts of hunting rapist.
Indecency
“…language or material that, in context, depicts or describes, in terms patently offensive as measured by contemporary community standards for the broadcast medium, sexual or excretory activities or organs.”
- The Federal Communications Commission
Similar to Obscenity, indecency however is more focused in the cultural favor. Indecent can also refer to other type of 'weirdness' besides sexual-themes. For example, a dirty muddied man walks into a mall with torn shirts are considered indecent.
In the media sense however, indecency usually expose the 'dark side' of a particular society. Stuffs like drugs, illegal racing, political scams and scandals are considered to be a part of indeceny.
